This past Sunday, Sophia celebrated her 9 month mark and our little one is clearly developing quite the personality. Some of her recent traits that are so very endearing include what I am calling the "moody face" and the "music bounce".

Sophia can, and does show her displeasure with her parents in a few different ways. She can wiggle like a worm out of our arms, she can launch into a full out wailing cry, or there is the "moody face". Of late, when we put a spoon of food near her mouth, she'll purse her lips, squint her eyes, and wrinkle her nose so as to visually demonstrate her displeasure with the choice of menu. She seems to want nothing to do with this "being feed" routine and instead she will take the spoon and take care of the eating herself - though truthfully not that much food actually makes it into her mouth. It's both reassuring and a bit funny to see such attitude and willingness to do it herself at such a young age (and we try and make the clean-up enjoyable too).

Today, Cecilia and Sophia attended a group-sing at a local pre-school. There were some 30+ parents and children (most under 1 year of age). Sophia was quick to find the push-cart toy and tour the room at full speed including at one point pushing a train-like set of other toys in her path. Cecilia resorted to watching for damage control instead socializing.
Once the sing-a-long got under way, the "music bounce" took her front and centre of the circle of parents and kids. With the music playing, Sophia will be on her knees, often clapping, and will begin to bounce her body up and down. This inevitably leads to a sort of hopping and giggling and she really gets into it and, in the case of the sing-song, she bounced her way from her place in the circle directly towards the top of the circle in front of the guitar. She loves the music and we love how much she shows it.
